Finland is well known as the hometown of Santa Claus and Moomin. Eighty percent of the land is covered with forests and there are many lakes and marshes. In the Arctic Circle, aurora can be seen in wintertime. As elsewhere education is the strongest point for the growth of country in which women have a lead. Ms. Riikka Pahkala is going to share with us the system, its strong points and the effect of Women taking a lead role in imparting education. 5月20日(水)開催のセミナーは、「世界の文化シリーズ」第2回目で、フィンランドについてです。フィンランドは、童話のムーミン、そしてサンタクロースの故郷として知られています。国土の8割が森林と18万を数える湖沼などの自然からなり、北極圏にあたる北部は、冬にオーロラが見られることで知られています。この自然豊かな国は、また、携帯電話等のハイテク産業が盛んで、欧州内でも、有数の経済大国となり得た「高い教育水準」を誇り、英語教育の質の高さも世界各国のモデルとなっています。男女同権に基づき、女性の社会進出も世界最高レベルにあります。今回、フィンランドご出身で、来日前まで教師をしていらしたリ-ッカ・パッカラさんに、同国の文化特に教育事情、女性の高い社会進出やその文化背景についてお話いただきます。普段聞けないフィンランドについて、フィンランドの専門家から学べるこの英語セミナーに是非ご出席ください。

リーッカ・パッカラさん

Born in Finland. BA & MS in Education from University of Turku, and trained in special Education from Helsinki University. Worked as elementary school teacher in Finland from 1995 to 2005 before coming to Japan because of her husband’s relocation. Wrote two books “tanoshi Sansu” & “Finnulando no Kyoikuryoku” which are published by Gakken and being sold at various book stores and Amazon.

As1969年フィンランド生まれ。トゥルク大学で教育学の修士学位取得、ヘルシンキ大学で行動科学・特別教育の学位取得。1995年～2005年、フィンランド国内の小学校で教べんをとる。その後、夫の転勤で東京に在住。「フィンランドの教育力」と「楽しい算数」を学習研究社 （学研）から出版している。
